Winter is here, and for many areas that means so is the snow! Snow is made up of tiny crystals of ice. When those crystals clump together, snowflakes are formed. The unique way these ice crystals join gives the snowflakes special designs. The shape of each snow crystal depends on the temperature and humidity of the area. Although it’s been said that no two snowflake crystals are the same, in 1988 scientist Nancy Knight found two identical ones while studying the crystals from a storm in Wisconsin!
